Magnify Your Advocacy Power as a Key Contact
Heidi Ecker, Director Government Affairs & Grassroots Advocacy, NACDS
On a daily basis, our community engages elected officials with the goal of successfully advancing pro-patient and pro-pharmacy policy priorities. At the same time, advocates for other causes make their views known to members of Congress and their positions can be contrary to pharmacy's goals. Sheer engagement was enough in years' past, however today's constant buzz of competing priorities requires even stronger advocate and policymaker relationships to secure our legislative victories. You are positioned to build these relationships across the United States, making pharmacy an even more powerful force than it is today. To help you reach excellence in this capacity, NACDS has created a training program to help you become a self-sufficient and opportunity-generating Key Contact with quality relationships!
After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:
- Build relationships with policymakers and the right congressional staffers.
- Generate impactful opportunities to connect with policymakers.
- Multiply relationship quality via political events and campaign engagement.
- Advance value through supportive Letters-to-the-Editor, social media.
- Develop a plan of activities to establish a stronger relationship with an elected official.
