Friday, June 18, 2021   (0 Comments)

From National Association of Chain Drug Stores email, published June 14: Join the U.S. pharmacy community in contacting your U.S. Representative and our U.S. Senators today! Minnesota is currently in the Top 10 of states that have reached out to Congress promoting Pharmacy DIR Reform to Reduce Senior Drug Costs Act (S.1909/ H.R.3554).

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid 2022 Congressional Justification Estimates for Appropriations recently announced that DIR fees have skyrocketed by a staggering 91,500 percent from 2010 to 2019.

DIR Reform: Contact Your Congressional Reps Today!

This critical legislation addresses DIR fees that inflate Medicare Part D patients’ out-of-pocket prescription drug costs, forcing patients to choose between altering or stopping medication regimens — leading to diminished health, reliance on more costly treatment and higher overall healthcare costs. S.1909/H.R. 3554 would prevent plans and pharmacy benefit managers from clawing back these DIR fees from pharmacies, and in tandem, standardize pharmacy performance metrics to enhance price transparency and better enable pharmacies to further invest in programs that advance patient care and decrease health care costs.
