From Department of Human Services email, published June 24: While expressing optimism that the Minnesota Legislature will agree to a state budget soon, the Minnesota Department of Human Services has sent an email to Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) providers, notifying them that the department is planning for the possibility of a state government shutdown.
The email states, “If a budget is not approved before July 1, all or parts of state government will shut down. If a shutdown occurs and there is no action to continue critical services, it will have impacts on services you provide and services we provide in partnership and support of the work you do. Payment for services you provide may stop effective July 1, until a budget is approved. A shutdown will also have a direct impact on the people served through our human services system. While we hope that none of this comes to pass, due diligence requires that we notify you of this possibility.
“We will post information on the Minnesota Department of Human Services website at https://mn.gov/dhs/, for updates. We suggest that you monitor state websites, bulletins, and media publications for further information.”
