The goal of this event is to promote interprofessional collaboration and appreciation for the skills we bring to the team as we work together for our patients with diabetes. Providing some deliberate networking time will allow us to share ideas, philosophies of care, and troubleshoot barriers. Sharing in the same continuing education program will allow us to realize that we share a professional knowledge base and common interests.
Our speaker will be Stephanie Smith, PharmD, CDE. Stephanie is a clinical pharmacist who sees patients at Ridgeview Chaska Clinic, Ridgeview Westonka Clinic and Ridgeview Specialty Clinic in Waconia. She is credentialed through the American Association of Diabetes Educators as a Diabetes Instructor to help patients manage their diabetes medications and lead a healthy lifestyle. The learning objectives for this event are:
Review the returning use of pioglitazone
Discuss impact of Glycemic Variability
Evaluate effects on albuminuria and renal function seen with SLGT-2 inhibitors
Summarize cardiovascular outcomes with the newer diabetes agents
Leverage the advantages of newer insulin therapies
