Join us for an interactive evening and Town Hall meeting with area pharmacists and MPhA leadership and staff. Marsha Millonig, MPhA Interim Executive Director will provide a presentation based on the MPhA Annual Learning Networking Event session on CMS Star Ratings: News for 2016. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) continue to implement programs that are transforming the health care market from fee-for-service toward payment based on quality outcomes. MPhA business owners and practice managers heard about CMS Star Ratings and the impact of those ratings on health plan network composition in late 2014. Significant movement in the Star Ratings system occurred in 2015 and more and more, health plans are asking pharmacies for quality metrics to see if they can impact their Star Ratings. You’ll hear where are things at and what steps may you take to address the star rating challenge. UMN student pharmacists Sabia Ahmed and Megan Miller will talk about diabetes management related to the Star Ratings System and provide an understanding of the “ominous octet” concept through a poster presentation at the event.
After participating you will be able to :
- Describe the impact of the changing health care landscape including star ratings on payer incentives.
- List major changes to Medicare Part D star ratings measures that the pharmacist may impact.
- Explain the three key areas where pharmacists may make the biggest difference in star ratings.
- Describe the “ominous octet” principle of diabetes management.
Enjoy appetizers and libations while networking with area pharmacists and have the opportunity to share your ideas, concerns and thoughts during the interactive Town Hall that will take place after the presentation.
MPhA thanks Dakota Drug & NovoNordisk for their support of the Town Hall program. You will have the opportunity to visit with their representatives at their table top exhibits before the program.
