Minnesota Medical Cannabis: Applications of the Law and Clinical Care of Patients
Dial-in Webinar
May 29, 2014, Minnesota became the 22nd state to allow medical cannabis with products available to patients starting July 1st of this year. Although many states have legalized cannabis related products for medical use, Minnesota is unique in its approval of medical cannabis with restrictions on prescribing, pharmacy dispensing, and available formulations. This law creates a significant culture change for healthcare practitioners, which will require education and training. This webinar will explore Minnesota’s medical cannabis law, giving an overview of processes for both practitioners and patients.
Objectives:
- To describe the state of medical cannabis legislation within the United States.
- To identify unique aspects of the medical cannabis legislation within the state of Minnesota in comparison to other states.
- To describe the pharmacologic principles of cannabis, including pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics.
- To explore the most common and serious adverse effects related to cannabis use.
