Aligning the Stars: What All Pharmacists Should Know about Star Ratings and Quality Measures
Dial-in Webinar
Take a break and pick up tips that can improve your practice in MPhA’s first Virtual Coffee Break on star ratings and quality measures! Increasingly, quality measures are being used to rate health plans and determine reimbursement structures in both the public and private sectors. Pharmacists can help contribute to improving a plan’s quality measures and ratings. Those that don’t may be at risk for being excluded from providing services in networks. In this “Virtual Coffee Break” Webinar, you’ll hear from MPhA President Randy Seifert, PharmD, Senior Associate Dean of the College of Pharmacy of the University of Minnesota. Randy will discuss the various quality measures being used by the National Committee for Quality Assurance and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. You’ll learn what Star ratings are and what they mean in health plans. How can pharmacists have an impact on them? How do Minnesota health plans stack up? You’ll have an opportunity to interact and ask questions in order to make a quality game plan for yourself!
After participating in this program, the pharmacist should be able to:
- Describe the CMS Star ratings process as it relates to medications
- Describe those quality measures that are specific to pharmacy practice and how they relate to health plan ratings
- Describe how pharmacist providers can impact Star ratings and quality measures
- Review how Minnesota health plans “stack up" in Star ratings
