Please join MPhA Past President Michelle Aytay to discuss the importance of advocacy and the role it has played in advancing the practice of pharmacy in Minnesota. Also, learn about the current issues pharmacy is facing and how you can advocate to make a difference!
Objectives
Upon completion of this presentation, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
- Understand the importance of advocacy in pharmacy & healthcare
- Review changes that advocacy has made to the practice of pharmacy in Minnesota
- Discuss current issues facing pharmacy practice in Minnesota and likely to be addressed during the 2022 Legislative Session
- Review how you can advocate for your profession at all levels
Speaker: Michelle S Aytay
Pharmacist, Walgreens Pharmacy Centre Pointe Dr
Michelle Aytay is a University of Minnesota Alum and has been practicing community pharmacy with direct patient care in Minnesota for over 20 years. Aytay is passionate about advancing pharmacy practice and serves as MPA Co Chair and is Past President of the Minnesota Pharmacists Association. She has also co-chaired the MPhA Public Affairs Committee. Aytay is Past President of the Minnesota Pharmacists Foundation and remains on the Board. Aytay also loves developing future pharmacists and she is active in numerous capacities at the College of Pharmacy, including Past President of the Pharmacy Alumni Society and board member of the Century Mortar Club. She is a mentor, preceptor, and residency director. Aytay actively promotes the role of pharmacists in patients’ health through community involvement with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. Her leadership has been recognized through numerous awards, including the University of Minnesota Pharmacy Alumni Society Distinguished Pharmacist Award.
The Minnesota Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
